It was a regular Saturday evening for superhero siblings Noah and Logan. The two brothers were out playing in their barn when they noticed storm clouds rolling in. “Woah I think it’s gonna rain!” Noah said to his older brother. Logan looked up at the sky and replied “Yeah, you’re right! Let’s head inside before it starts!” The two boys headed inside and sat down in their living room. Suddenly, there was a huge boom and a bright flash of light outside and the electricity inside the house went out! “Ah! The lights went out!” Noah cried before taking off upstairs.
“Noah? Are you okay?” Logan asked, but he got no response. He decided to grab a flashlight from the kitchen and teleported upstairs to look for his younger brother. “Where are you?” He called out before checking the bathroom. “Hello? Noah?” Logan called, but he got no response. He checked his parents room, but Noah was not there either. Logan peeked into his brother’s room and saw a figure underneath Noah’s covers. He pushed back the covers and found Noah in tears. “Hey! What’s wrong?” He asked, sitting down on Noah’s bed. “It’s dark! What if the boogie man gets me?” Noah shouted before pulling the covers back over himself. “Noah! The boogie man isn’t real. You’re gonna be okay!” Logan responded, once again pushing back the covers. “Really? But it’s so dark! What if there’s monsters in the dark?” Noah questioned. “There isn’t though! You’re just scared of what could possibly be out there in the dark.” Logan replied. “What do you mean?” Noah questioned. “I mean that you don’t know what’s in the dark, so that made you scared of the dark.” Logan responded. “Oh. That makes sense. So I shouldn’t be afraid of the things I don’t know?” Noah asked. “Exactly!” Logan said.
“Hey! I think I’m getting a vision! Grab my hand.” Logan exclaimed, reaching out to Noah. Noah grabbed his hand and the brothers closed their eyes. Suddenly, an older woman with curly hair and a lab coat appeared! She knelt down and smiled at Noah before saying, “Nothing in life is to be feared, it is only to be understood. Now is the time to understand more, so that we may fear less.” Then she got up, waved at the boys and disappeared.
“Woah. Do you know who that is?” Noah asked, looking up at his older brother. “Hmm, I don’t but she was wearing a lab coat… maybe she’s a scientist! We can check my science book!” Logan exclaimed. He got up, teleported to his room to grab the book, and teleported back. “Let’s see…” He said while flipping through the pages. “There she is!” Noah shouted, pointing at a picture with the caption “Marie Curie.” “She was a scientist! It says here that she discovered two new elements!” Logan said. “What are elements?” Noah asked. “They’re kind of like the building blocks of science. Sometimes they can be dangerous.” Logan answered. “Woah! So you she was brave enough to look for elements even though she didn’t know if they were dangerous or not?” Noah questioned. “Yeah! It’s kind of like how you were scared of the dark because you didn’t know what was out there.” Logan said, smiling at his brother. “Wow, if she was brave enough to look for elements, maybe I should be brave enough to not be afraid of the dark!” Noah said. “That’s right! Whenever you’re scared of the unknown, just remember was Marie Curie said to us!” Logan replied. “Hey, why don’t we ask our parents to light the fire place so we can roast marshmallows while we wait for the power to come back on?” Logan asked. “Sure! I love that idea!” Noah answered. The two boys went downstairs and enjoyed the rest of their night with their parents. The end.
